TRINITY SUNDAY – B

Sign of the Cross

(The Presider may wish to invite the Assembly to reflect…. and prayerfully make the Sign of the Cross together)

Greeting

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the love of the Father,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.

Introduction

A
The Feast of the Blessed Trinity, which we celebrate today,
brings us face to face with the mystery of God.

Our destiny is to share in the very life of God which has been revealed through Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit who lives within us draws us into that life.
Today we remember all that God has done for us.

B
We begin every Eucharistic celebration in the name of the Blessed Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Our destiny is to share the very life of God which has been revealed through Jesus Christ.  Today we praise and thank God for calling us to share in his life and love.

Litany of Praise

Lord Jesus, you reveal God to us as a Father who cares for his children:

Lord, have mercy.

Through the incarnation you have become a Brother to us:

Christ, have mercy.

Through your gift of the Spirit, the love of God has been poured into our hearts:

Lord, have mercy.

Opening Prayer

A
O God,
your name is veiled in mystery,
yet we dare to call you Father;
your Son was begotten before all ages,
yet is born among us in time;
your Holy Spirit fills the whole creation,
yet is poured forth now into our hearts.

Because you have made us and loved us
and called us by name,
draw us more deeply into your divine life,
that we may glorify you through your Son,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God forever and ever.   AMEN.

B
O God Most High,
in the waters of baptism
you made us your sons and daughters
in Christ, your only-begotten Son.

Deep within us is the cry of the Spirit,
who calls out to you,  “Abba, Father.”
Grant that, obedient to our Savior’s commission,
we may become heralds of the salvation you offer
and go forth to make disciples of all people.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.   AMEN.

GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

P       All our prayer is directed to the Father, through Jesus Christ, in the power of the Spirit.  Let us now pray for the needs of the Church and the world.

CM      Let our response be:  Father, hear us in your love.

  1. For our Holy Father, Pope N., and the bishops of the church: (pause) that they may proclaim the one true God by being faithful to the will of the Father, obedient to the teachings of Jesus Christ and sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit:  we pray:
  2. For the world in which we live:  (pause) that people may reject false gods of power, pleasure and prestige and come to know and worship the one true God in sincerity and truth: we pray:
  3. For all who are without hope because of illness or poverty or persecution:  (pause)  that the Holy Spirit may bring them comfort and peace:  we pray:
  4. That the outpouring of the Spirit on believers may strengthen their commitment to the task of transforming the ‘face of the earth’ and putting an end to war.  We pray:

[The Presider may add a petition that is relevant / local]

P       Father, you sent your Son to redeem us, and the Holy Spirit to dwell within us. Draw us ever more deeply into the life you share with us, through Christ our Lord.  AMEN.

Prayer over Gifts

Eternal God,
we bring this bread and wine before you –
signs of your kindness, fruits of our toil.
Let your Spirit fill them with your presence,
to make your Son Jesus dwell among us,
that through him, and in him, and with him
we may give you all honor and praise
now and for ever.  AMEN.

Intro to the Lord’s Prayer

In the power of the Holy Spirit,
let us pray to the one that Jesus called ‘Abba, Father’:

Deliver Us

Deliver us, Lord, from every evil
and give to us the peace promised by your Son.
Guide us by the strength of your Spirit
to grow as a community of love
and to prepare in joyful hope
for the coming in glory
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Prayer for Peace

Lord Jesus Christ,
you said to the disciples and to us:

“I am with you always, until the end of time”

Grant peace and unity to your Church
and let it be the sign to every person on earth
of your patient, caring love.
Grant that we may live with you in your kingdom
forever and ever.

Sign of Peace

Since we are members of God’s family,
let us greet and bless one another.

and receive him at this altar-table.

Prayer after Communion

A
Eternal Father,
we praise and thank you
through Jesus Christ your Son
whom you have given to us in this Eucharist.

be a response of love and service.
We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.  AMEN.

B
God of splendor and glory,
we worship you, a Trinity of Persons, one eternal God.
Thank you for committing yourself to us.
Help us to commit ourselves to you,
Father – Creator,
Son – Redeemer,
and Spirit  – Sanctifier.
Make us more fully alive, human and holy.
All this we ask through Christ our Lord. AMEN.
