Grace and peace to you
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus!
May the Spirit of New Life be always with you.
Introduction and Litany of Praise
In the Gospel today we will hear Jesus say to his first two disciples,
‘Come and see.’ They accepted his invitation and had an encounter with him which changed their lives. (Pause)
Each time we celebrate the Eucharist we have an opportunity to encounter the Lord. Let us prepare ourselves now for this. (pause)
Lord, Jesus, you call us to follow you.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord Jesus, you call us to be one people.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord Jesus, you call us to do the will of your Father.
Lord, have mercy.
O God, you always call us by our name.
Make our ears attentive to your voice,
our spirits eager to respond,
that, having heard you speak through Jesus,
we may draw others to be his disciples.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever. AMEN.
Prayer over the Gifts
Lord and Giver of life,
with these gifts of bread and wine
we bring before you our good intentions –
our desire to please you in all we do.
Give us the strength to answer the call
of Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.
Invitation to the Lord’s Prayer
Moved by the Holy Spirit,
we cry out to God our Father
in the words of Jesus himself:
Deliver us Lord
Deliver us Lord, we pray, from every evil,
and graciously grant peace in our days
that, sustained by the help of your mercy,
we may be always free from sin
and saved from all distress,
as we await the blessed hope –
the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Prayer for Peace
Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your Apostles,
“Come and see.
“Come, follow me.”
Look not on our sins,
but on the faith of your Church,
and grant us the peace and unity of your kingdom
where you live for ever and ever.
Sign of Peace
Let us now extend the hand of friendship and peace.
Invitation to Communion
“Look, here is the Lamb of God.”
This is Jesus who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are we who are invited to the banquet of the Lamb.
Prayer after Communion
today your Son has spoken to us
and has called us to be his disciples.
By the strength of the food he has given us
may we have the courage to follow him
on the road which leads to you.
Grant this through the same Christ our Lord. AMEN.
May you always be able to see where Christ lives,
and, like the apostles, stay with him. AMEN.
May you always be aware of his love for you. AMEN.
And may you know that because of this love
you are of infinite value. AMEN.
And may God always bless you,
+ the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.
Go now in the peace of the Lord
and, like Andrew, bring others to meet Jesus.
